Hello Cebu (and the rest of the world)..did you book your favorite makeup artist yet for your Halloween party? If not, what are you waiting for? Grab some inspiration from their 2009 Halloween Makeup Mania entries below.
I just want to say how grateful I am for the overwhelming number of votes (1,300+ and counting) submitted since we uploaded the pictures last Saturday. In behalf of everyone else involved in this online event, I'd like to thank you for all your support. If you haven't voted yet, please remember that you have until Oct. 31st to vote. Or vote now! It will only take you less than a minute.
Sometimes we take the makeup profession for granted. As a fan of their work, I hope this event will bring more respect and recognition to the talented makeup artists in Cebu. At the same time, I think it's also a very healthy form of entertainment for all of us and will really help in promoting Cebu.
Let me tell you more about the concept of Halloween Makeup Mania. American International Industries releases a special collection of Halloween false eyelashes every year under the brand Fright Night Cosmetics. Because they sponsored the lashes, I invited the makeup artists to do their own interpretation of Halloween makeup by incorporating the lashes into the whole look. As you can see below, each one had his own unique interpretation of Halloween. Contrary to general perception, Halloween makeup is not limited to horror makeup. It can simply be 'costume makeup.'
With that being said, here are more photos that showcase the looks they created using strip lashes from Fright Night Cosmetics. I know many people have been asking for more photos so they can see the entire concept. So here you go!
Wenwen Zaspa went for a 'glam look' with splashes of bright pink and yellow on the eyes and the lips. He also highlighted the model's up-do with the same colors he used on her face. The look goes very well with his choice of crystal-studded lashes. Besides, who doesn't want to look fabulously pretty for Halloween? Model: Blinky of M.A.C. Models
Gari Son creates his own Halloween character which he calls the 'Renaissance Warrior'. He draws inspiration from his choice of eyelashes to create patterns on the face and brings us to the the dark side. He also offers us a dose of originality and high fashion. Model: Jam Charish Libatog of A.D. Models
Emi Ayag explores not only the face but the nape as well to bring us the fright factor in this bold 'animalistic look'. His use of black and red creates a strong contrast against the model's silver-coated skin which matches the silver sparkles on the lashes. Model:
Jing-Jing Manching's 'red affair' teaches us that there are no limits when it comes to using false eyelashes. If you think that falsies are only for the top and bottom lashes, think again. He takes risks and applies the strips right above the eyebrows to bring out the eyes even more. The joke's on us! Model:
Jessie Glova fondly calls his entry "The Cry of Gaia." He combines prosthetics and airbrushing to create a socially relevant masterpiece symbolizing natural catastrophes around the world. Art really does imitate life in more ways than one. Model: Himself
Bobbie Albert's entry is a breath of fresh air into the Halloween theme. Pastel highlights and flawless foundation on the model's skin bring out the princess in all of us. He frames her eyes with shimmery top and bottom eyelashes. Model: Ivy Marie Bacalso of Marlon Wafer ModelsAll this and more coming out soon in Sunstar's Halloween Supplement. Grab your copy from newsstands on Thursday, Oct. 29th.
